About us
The Narwhals Golfing Society is a scratch foursomes society with a strong connection to North Wales golf. Originally formed to further the game in the region, the Society was established in 1935 with a friendly match against The Hittites at Prestatyn Golf Club and followed this up with a full set of fixtures the following year.
Narwhals will typically have played representative golf at a high level and be able to compete confidently in this foursomes matchplay format.
Just as important as playing standard is conduct. Members are expected to add value to the Society through their participation, their behaviour, and their approach to the game.
This page brings together documents, photographs and stories from across the Narwhals’ history.
The Spirit of our Society

As a Narwhal, you are expected to:
- Uphold the Society’s values of camaraderie, hospitality and professionalism
- Be available for a minimum of two fixtures per year
- Wear Society colours (green and gold) when representing the Narwhals
- Conduct yourself as an ambassador of the Society, on and off the course
Match Format
The Narwhals traditionally play foursomes golf, often over 36 holes.
Fixtures are played home and away on a rotational basis against like-minded societies.
Conduct and Hospitality
Our traditions extend beyond the golf itself:
- Camaraderie and well-mannered play are central to every fixture
- Hosts entertain generously at home
- Guests reciprocate in the same spirit when away
- Professional standards are expected at all times
Colours and Attire
The Society’s colours are green and gold.
Members representing the Narwhals are expected to wear Society colours during matches, including the gold Narwhal pin.
Venues and Heritage
Royal St David’s GC (Harlech), Conwy GC and Prestatyn GC are among the Society’s traditional homes.
These venues sit at the heart of the Narwhals’ connection to North Wales golf and its landscape.
