Narwhals 1935 (1)

Who are we?

The Narwhals are a Scratch Foursomes Golf Society based in North Wales, established at a time when the very oldest golfing societies were being formed in the golfing world.

We play fixtures both home and away, played over a 36-hole match play format, usually followed by or preceded by a formal Black-tie Dinner.

Matches are keenly contested but are always played in the right spirit and in a sociable manner that fosters deep and enduring relationships. A Narwhal should have the game and mindset to relish this format.

Our Ethos
Foursomes sits at the heart of the Narwhals. It is not simply a format we play, but the culture that defines us.

In foursomes, two golfers play one ball, taking alternate shots. Success depends less on individual brilliance and far more on trust, rhythm and understanding. It asks players to think beyond themselves, to adapt to their partner, and to value teamwork over personal score.

Among the Narwhals, foursomes is played in the spirit in which it was intended: competitively, properly and with good humour. Partners support one another through good shots and bad, accept shared responsibility for the result, and play with integrity and pace.

The game is taken seriously, but never at the expense of enjoyment or respect.
We believe foursomes brings out the best in golfers. It encourages patience, sharpens decision-making, and forges friendships that last far longer than any round. For new
members, embracing this ethos is as important as any handicap or ability.

To play as a Narwhal is to play together — and to judge the day not solely by the result, but by the quality of the partnership and the company kept along the way.
